About PetScienceReview
PetScienceReview publishes independent, evidence-based pet product reviews to help you cut through marketing noise and make confident, informed decisions for the animals in your care.
Our Editorial Mission
Pet owners deserve honest guidance — not sponsored content designed to push whatever brand pays the most. Every review we publish starts with a real question pet owners are asking, digs into the product's safety record, materials, and real-world performance, and ends with a clear, evidence-backed recommendation.
How We Research & Review
- Safety first, always. Before evaluating any product, we search the CPSC recall database, FDA pet food recall notices, and the ASPCA Animal Poison Control toxic substances list. Any product with an active recall or confirmed hazardous ingredient is not recommended — period.
- Owner community synthesis. We systematically analyze long-form verified purchase reviews from Amazon, Chewy, and breed-specific communities to understand real-world durability, pet acceptance, and owner satisfaction over realistic time horizons.
- Transparent scoring. Every reviewed product receives a composite score built from five defined criteria: Safety & Ingredients, Durability & Build Quality, Pet Comfort & Acceptance, Value for Money, and Ease of Use. The weights and formula are published on our Review Methodology page.
- Regular updates. Products get recalled, formulations change, and better alternatives launch. We update our recommendations when the evidence changes.
Who We Are
PetScienceReview is a research-driven publication focused on the intersection of veterinary science and practical pet ownership. Our content is grounded in authoritative sources — CPSC, FDA, ASPCA, AAFCO, and peer-reviewed veterinary literature — with a strong emphasis on citing primary sources. We hold ourselves to the same standard we apply to the products we review: show your work, cite your sources, and admit when the evidence is thin.
What We Cover
Our reviews span the full range of pet products pet owners encounter:

- Senior Dogs — orthopedic beds, joint supplements, mobility aids, gentle harnesses
- Dog Food — dry kibble, wet food, raw diets, breed-specific and life-stage formulations
